Google Takes Strict Action Against Paid Links
Being the most-used search engine across the world isn’t an easy task. It takes a lot to maintain that trust and faith of a wide number of people in its search results, and Google doesn’t want to take any chances. Its drive against spamming and unethical SEO techniques has taken a new turn, as the search engine giant warns websites to remove all the paid links, new or old.
Google’s John Mueller made an announcement on behalf of Google regarding various issues related to action against paid links. He stated that-
- Website owners shouldn’t wait for Google to penalise their site- John states that once Google has penalised a website for paid links, it would take a long time to reverse the action. Therefore, site owners should immediately work on removing all the paid links, if they don’t want to risk their ranking on its search results page.
- It is important to remove ALL the paid links no matter how old they are. While Google is taking the action now, penalties would be applicable even if you bought a link 2 years ago.
- A notification from Google doesn’t mean it is necessarily a new penalty. If you haven’t recently paid for a link and still get a notification, then it isn’t a new penalty. It is just an action against your older paid links.
If you have got a notification from Google regarding unnatural links to your site, you shouldn’t just wait it out. Rather you should submit a reconsideration request as soon as possible. But before that you must remove all the dodgy links that you paid for some time back.
Moreover, this warning from Google is a quick reminded to SEOs and link builders who take shortcuts to take a website’s ranking on top of the search results page.
